Claudette Maharaj is an inspiring and innovative change-maker, collaborator, speaker, and the visionary Founder and CEO of TRIYBE a forward-thinking organisation rooted in strengthening identity, celebrating black heritage, amplifying unheard voices, and driving social change. Claudette often shares, “To make real change, you must step outside the system that resists it.” That belief has shaped a career defined by creativity, and commitment to transformation. With a wealth of experience spanning mental health, social care, education, therapy, public health, and the criminal justice system, both in the UK and internationally, Claudette’s work bridges systems and communities. From teaching and lecturing to leading and developing culturally responsive strategies within the NHS as Public Health Lead for Communities and Black Mental Health, Claudette continues to pioneer inclusive and healing approaches to community wellbeing.
Under her leadership and innovation, TRIYBE is spearheading what is beleived to be the UK’s first Black Hair Care Research Project, supported by Reading University and the British Science Association. Which explores the impact of harmful chemicals in Black hair care products and their possible effects on the physical and mental health of Black heritage communities. By combining science, community led-research and storytelling,
Claudette also serves as a global advisor on the board of Academy Achievers, supporting the mission to empower one million Black heritage girls and women to pursue careers in STEM through the #BeMe initiative, nurturing the next generation of leaders.
“I’m passionate about breaking cylces, particularly in marginalised and underrepresented communities,” Claudette shares. “Our strength lies in our roots, our resilience, and our right to thrive.”
